FAQ
Questions we get asked
Licensing, pricing, coverage and timing — the things people want to know before they pick up the phone.
Which areas do you serve?
We work from Camarillo in the west across to Altadena, south to Long Beach and Anaheim, and north to the Antelope Valley around Lancaster. The San Fernando Valley is where we are based and where we work most, but our electricians live across the whole area rather than in one yard at one end of it. The pages on this site cover nine communities in detail; the service area is considerably wider. If you are not sure whether you are inside it, call (800) 280-0428 and we will tell you straight away.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. AI Builders Inc. is a licensed and insured electrical contractor serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Our contractor license number is 1033090. We handle maintenance, repairs, renovations, and new construction, with work completed to applicable code and safety requirements. Contact us to discuss the electrical scope for your property.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We offer free estimates and require your approval of all pricing before work begins. Share the property location, the work you need, and any available plans or equipment details. A free estimate does not automatically include diagnostic labor or repair work; any chargeable scope is discussed and approved before it starts.
Do you handle urgent electrical problems?
Call us and describe what is happening — a burning smell, heat damage, sparking, or a repeated loss of power. We will tell you honestly how soon we can get to you and what to do in the meantime. We are not a 24-hour emergency service, so we will not promise an arrival time we cannot meet. If there is smoke, fire, or another immediate danger, leave the area and call 911 before you call us.
How quickly will you respond to my inquiry?
We respond to inquiries in under 24 hours. That commitment concerns communication, not a guaranteed arrival or completion time. Scheduling depends on the work, access, equipment, and project requirements. For an urgent electrical issue, call (800) 280-0428 so the situation can be discussed directly rather than waiting for a form response.
Can you handle both small jobs and large projects?
Yes. We handle projects of any size, from individual outlets, switches, and fans to rewiring, panel work, EV charging, and new construction electrical. The scope depends on your property and requirements. Tell us what you need, even if you do not know the technical name for the problem or installation.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. Our work is guaranteed. Ask us to explain the guarantee as it applies to your project when reviewing the estimate. We do not publish an unconfirmed warranty length or assume that equipment manufacturers' coverage is identical to our workmanship guarantee. You approve the electrical scope and pricing before work begins.
Do you take on commercial and industrial work?
Yes. Electrical contracting for residential and commercial properties is our main work, and we take on industrial jobs as well. That covers tenant improvements, lighting retrofits, equipment connections, service upgrades and ongoing maintenance alongside the residential side. Tell us the property type and the scope and we will say plainly whether it is work we take on.
Do you work with landlords and property managers?
Yes. Unit turnovers, common-area lighting, panel and meter repairs, and corrections needed ahead of an inspection are all routine for us. We can work to a schedule that fits around tenants and provide the documentation a manager needs for their records. Tell us how many units are involved and we will price it properly.
Can you work from an architect or engineer's drawings?
Yes. We review the electrical drawings before starting and flag anything that will not work in practice. If there are no electrical drawings, we can lay out the circuits, panel schedule and device locations ourselves. Either way you see the plan before anyone starts cutting into a wall.
Can you take over a job another contractor started?
Usually. We will inspect what has already been done, tell you honestly what can be kept and what has to be redone, and price from there. We will not sign off on someone else's work without checking it first, because anything we certify becomes our responsibility.
What should I have ready when I call?
The property address, roughly when it was built, and a plain description of what is happening or what you want to add. If it is a fault, tell us which rooms or circuits are affected and whether anything is warm, discoloured or smells burnt. Photos of the panel help. None of it is essential, but it gets you a more accurate answer faster.
Do you give a written estimate?
Yes. Estimates are free and they are written down, so you see the number before any work starts. That figure is what you pay unless you ask us to change the scope. If we open a wall and find something unexpected, we stop, show you, and tell you what it changes before continuing.
